I never agreed with Jonathan renaming Unilag to MAUL or whatever as this is coming later. I respect Abiola a lot as he has done much for the Nigerian society but so has Unilag for over 50 years. It's not a good idea for him to have killed one legacy in order to immortalize another. Unilag has grown to such a level that it's name is globally known. It seems those giving him the advice just want to ruin his political career. I'm glad that the Unilag senate and alumni has rejected the decision. I also hope the National assembly refuses to assent to his decision. Unilag also deserves to be immortalized. Why not rename the National stadium or national theatre after Abiola or even build a new federal university in Lagos in Abiola's name?

I heard the case is still in court as the school alumni have rejected the renaming and so do many politicians. For now UNILAG still remains Unilag and not MAULAG
