You are a PROSPECTIVE student if you are seeking admission into any programme in the University. You must have passed the screening test of the University though. When you go to UNN website www.unn.edu.ng you are to click on UNN Portal link on the right hand side of the home page. This will take you to the UNN Portal where you will register according to you group. Please click on the Prospective Student link for further information and instructions.
You are a NEW student if you have just been granted admission by the University and duly cleared. When you go to UNN website www.unn.edu.ng you are to click on the UNN Portal link on the right hand side of the home page. This will take you to the UNN Portal where you will register according to you group. Please click on the New Student link for further information and instructions.
You are a RETURNING student if you are in your second year of study and above.
For somebody to become a student, he or she have to meet the following General Entry Requirements
1. Age Limit
No person under the age of sixteen years may be admitted to the University as a student.
2. Admission Requirements
There are three alternative methods of admission into the University, namely:

(i) Admission by Entrance Examination (Through J.M.E)- University by Entrance examination:
(a) Holders of the School Certificate or the General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level with credit level passes (Grades 1-6) in five subjects including an approved Science subject (see Appendix A) obtained at not more than two sittings. Such candidates must possess at least a pass in English Language.
(b) Holders of the School Certificate or the General certificate of Education Ordinary Level with not less than three credit passes obtained at one sitting plus the Teachers' Grade II Certificate with at least two merit passes. Passes in the above examination must include credit in the case of SC/GCE `O' Level or merit (in the case of TC II) in an approved Science subject. Such candidates must possess at least a pass in English Language:
Note: Merit pass in a Federal subject in TC II is equivalent to Credit level pass in School Certificate or General Certificate of Education.
(c) Holders of educational qualifications set out in 2(ii) (a) -(e) below. Such candidates on admission will be enrolled for the same degree programme (including the length of the course) as candidates with qualification set out in 2(i)(a)and(b) above.

(ii) Admission by Direct Entry:
(a) Holders of the School Certificate/GCE Ordinary Level and the Higher School Certificate/GCE Advanced Level with passes in two subjects at Principal or Advanced Level together with passes at subsidiary or credit level in three other subjects;
(b) Holders of the School Certificate/GCE Ordinary Level and the Higher School Certificate/GCE Advanced Level with passes in three subjects at Principal or Advanced Level together with a pass in one other subject at subsidiary or credit level;
(c) Holders of the Higher School Certificate/GCE Advanced Level with passes in four subjects at Principal Level. The number of passes indicated in 2(ii)(a)-(c) above should be obtained at not more than two sittings;
(d) Holders of the School Certificate or its equivalent with at least four credit level passes and a pass in English Language plus approved 2-year Diploma(see Appendix B for list of Diplomas acceptable for related Courses);
(e) Holders of post-secondary qualifications beyond the levels of 2(ii) (a)-(c) above. Such qualifications include degree and diplomas of this and other Universities or Institutions recognized by the University (se Appendix C);
(f) Holders of the Diploma in Music Education of this University with the degree programme in Music;
(g) Holders of the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), with at least a Merit aggregate; plus a minimum of credit pass in the subject to be combined with Education are eligible for admission into the two-year degree programme in Education.

(ii) Admission by Transfer (Direct application to the University and not through the Joint Admissions and matriculation Board-JAMB):
Candidates applying for transfer admission into the University of Nigeria will be required among other things:
(a) to purchase and complete the prescribed Application Form obtainable from the office of the Registrar (Admissions) University of Nigeria, Nsukka;
(b) To hold the minimum entry qualifications for admission into the University of Nigeria and Departmental entry requirements, prior to entry into the University from where they are seeking transfer;
(c) to be prepared to continue with the same courses as they were pursuing in the University from where they are seeking transfer:
(d) To have made normally a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.
Note: Students expelled or suspended from their Universities for acts of misconduct are not eligible for admission into the University of Nigeria. In addition to the minimum entry requirements outlined in 2(i) to 2(ii) above, candidates must also satisfy such Faculty/Departmental entry requirements set out for the Faculty/Department concerned.

Pls i want to know if am eligible to apply for the direct entry program wit my nce result and five credit in o, level including a pass in english language. I currently applied for direct entry program this year. Pls kindly reply this text
